Taking some time out to travel can be an amazing gift to yourself after a breakup. It can help show you a new perspective, meet new people from all different walks of life, experience new cultures and create incredible memories for yourself.

There are many trips you can take near where you live, but today we're going to dream big. Here are 5 incredible places to visit around the world after a breakup, and why!

Rio

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Rio de Janeiro is full of color, vibrance, energy and fun. It also has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, with amazing late night beach parties to help lift your spirits and put your ex to the back of your mind!

The best thing about Rio is probably the culture, food and wide range of restaurants and bars. Even if you travel alone, you won’t be short of people to spend time with, because it’s a popular destination among other travelers. And if you crave some downtime in nature, there are some fantastic day trips that will take you out of the city.

Bali

Bali, Indonesia

Taking time to be present and introspective is very healing after a breakup and Bali is the ultimate place to do that. If you’ve seen Eat, Pray, Love you’ll understand why! Bali is full of temples, lush vegetation, breathtaking scenery, beautiful ocean, white beaches, yoga retreats, nourishing healthy food and an all-round sense of calm, peace and tranquility.

There are also many activities you can try, like surfing and water sports, to challenge yourself and keep active. It’s also a great place to meet other people as it has cultivated many communities and hubs where travelers can meet and connect.

Italy

Italy

Being one of the most passionate places in the world, Italy is the ultimate place to fall back in love with yourself (if you've seen Master of None, you know)! Renowned for its style, vibrant and jovial culture, incredibly delicious pasta, pizza, wine and gelato, it’s the ultimate place to go to indulge and spoil yourself. The locals are big on relaxing in the evening with food, wine, laughter and conversation and will be happy to invite you to their table! It’s very much the more the merrier in Italy!

Australia

Australia

Australia is one of the most popular travel destinations out there and being one of the liveliest countries in the world with an abundance of things to do and see, it’s not hard to see why! You won’t struggle to meet other people on their travels and you’ll be welcomed with incredible beaches, BBQs, beer and sunshine. It will be difficult to pack in everything but a trip to the outback, diving on the Great Barrier Reef, backpacking up the east coast and the Sydney Opera House are a few things you could add to your agenda. Australia is very outdoorsy, has great food for all tastes and brilliant weather so it will definitely offer you a fresh way to see the world and life!

Kauai

Kauai, Hawaii

Another great place to take some time to yourself in breathtaking surroundings, Hawaii’s island of Kauai is less crowded than Oahu or Maui and doesn’t attract as many tourists. So perfect if you’re looking for time to reflect and be alone. The lifestyle in Kauai is all about being at one with nature, which can be incredibly healing and nurturing after a breakup. It also boasts amazing ocean views and lush green valleys.

Happy traveling and happy healing!
