Eva Longoria and Taylor Swift Share Their Breakup Advice

By Laura Yates

Celebrities go through their fair share of heartbreak, just like the rest of us. Many use it as inspiration for songs, books, art and creative expression.

Elle Singapore recently published an article with some golden breakup advice.

A few of our favorites in this round-up included:

Eva Longoria on keeping a positive mindset:

“The truth is, I should be angry, resentful and disillusioned about relationships. But I’m not. Love did not work with that person. But it can work with another.”

So true! A breakup is always a stepping stone to something greater for you. It’s really important to keep that trust and faith. It’s what helps you through and keeps you in a place of hope rather than defeat.

We also admire Ryan Phillippe’s honesty about divorce:

“It was the worst time in my life. You get through it. It’s a process that’s not easy, but I get less and less sad about it everyday.”

Accepting that going through heartbreak is a journey and that it’s really about taking things day by day is a great place to reach in your mind. It will get easier and there are much better days ahead.

We also love how Taylor Swift talks about heartbreak offering relief by using it as inspiration to write songs:

“The only way that I can feel better about myself- pull myself out of that awful pain of losing someone - is writing songs about it to get some sort of clarity.”

Getting creative can be such a healing way to release what you’re feeling inside and express it somewhere. It doesn’t have to songwriting - it could be journaling, art, painting, music - anything that you feel drawn to.
