Fall Is Here: It's Time For Heartbreak Hygge

A new season signifies a new editorial theme here at Mend, and we're very excited to share it with you: Heartbreak Hygge!

Hygge is all about getting cosy and connected, so throughout this month we will share hygge inspiration to soothe your heart and soul.

If you haven't heard of hygge, it’s a Danish term that is pronounced "hoo-ga" and is all about the art of cultivating comfort, coziness and wellbeing. Winters in Denmark are known for being long and cold, so the Danes have become experts at bringing warmth into their lives even when it's freezing outside.

Hygge has become a very popular design trend, but it extends to your social life and your community too. Hygge is all about creating a physical and emotional environment within your home and heart that’s warm and inviting - whether it be by bundling up and enjoying coffee with friends in a cafe, creating a personal sanctuary to take time out and read a good book, getting crafty, having friends over and cooking a warming dinner or just connecting with family, hygge is about letting go of any negative and draining emotions in favor of warmth, ease and comfort.

Ultimately, hygge is about self care. This is why the art of hygge applies so well to mending heartbreak too. Even if you don’t live in a cooler climate, you can still apply the ideas we'll share in the coming months to your own life, wherever you may be.  We’re excited to take you on our hygge inspired journey.

We'd also love to hear from you in the comments below - what does hygge mean to you? How do you hygge?
